ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE

The Chamber's Economic Development Committee is focused on many objectives, some of which include developing programs that improve the environment of economic growth for new and existing businesses. The goals include: 1) Interface with County and Local Government to enhance Economic Development, 2) work with city & local government to study, enhance, implement, & review a 20-year vision for area development.

LEGISLATIVE COMMITTEE

The task of the Legislative Affairs Committee is to develop legislative positions on and lobby for, issues that affect the business community. The goals of the Legislative Affairs Committee include 1)Develop a legislative agenda representing priority issues for the business community, 2)Coordinate with other organizations that have similar interests, including but not limited to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Florida Association of Chamber Professionals, Volusia County Chamber Alliance and the Board of Realtors, 3)Maintain a strong legislative relationship with city, county, state and federal elected officials insuring a steady communication of ideas supporting the Chamber's legislative agenda.

MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE

The Task of the Membership Division is to seek ways to enhance the value of the Chamber Membership. The Membership Division is responsible for maintaining a strong relationship between Chamber members and the Chamber organization. The effective communication and personal commitment have proven to be the key element in retaining members. This year's focus is on member retention and new members. They will be working on developing value added benefits to the membership, coordination of the monthly lunches and coffees, new membership receptions, coaches and volunteers, leads groups and Quarterly Business Seminars. 

EDUCATION COMMITTEE

The Education Committee has expanded to its original commitment: To have a business presence and relationship with the education systems. This committee will be comprised of both business and education leaders.

In 2011 we celebrate the 17th annual Crystal Apple Awards which honors the teachers of our Southeast Volusia Community that extend the "extra mile" to both their students and our community. In addition to this longstanding program the committee will be focusing on "Students of Southeast Volusia" and programs that encourage, assist and build confidence in our students. Programs being considered are; Mentor Programs, Job Fairs & Job Shadowing and Junior Achievement. Additionally other programs that will be considered will motivate and educate students about Career and Person Development and Health education.

The committee will also work with Educators in having student participation with Chamber members at the General Membership Luncheon and volunteer hours for community service hours.

The Leadership Program will be reinstated in 2013 . The committee will also work on a Speakers Guild that will be on the website as a resource that lists Chamber Member and Educator Speakers.

The Chamber Ambassadors is an exciting committee. Greeting new merchants, and interfacing with current members, the Ambassadors are the faces you see in the newspaper hosting weekly ribbon cuttings. They proudly represent the Chamber as our good will arm, greeting people at monthly membership meetings, the Business After Hours, and other Chamber events. Being a Chamber Ambassador provides an outstanding opportunity to promote your business as you network with others. You can help the Ambassadors celebrate the success of the Southeast Volusia business community by joining the team!

FUNDRAISING COMMITTEE

The Fund-raising committee will work on identifying and developing events that generate a minimum of $10,000 per event and that also provide a benefit to the membership.

WEBSITE COMMITTEE

The Website Committee will work with staff to ensure that the website is up to date on a regular basis and is optimized to show up on the top of search engine results. Additionally, the web site committee will work with the Advertising Committee to research advertising opportunities on the web site and coordinate those programs.

COLLATERAL & MEMBERSHIP MATERIALS COMMITTEE

The Collateral & Membership Material Committee will work with the Membership Committee to create collateral materials to promote Chamber benefits and Chamber events, ensuring that the new Corporate Identity is maintained throughout for consistency and a clear marketing message is delivered every time.
